Love this race and try to do it most months. It even has its own league table at the end of the year which is age graded, so all have a chance as long as you have completed at least 6 races in the year.

Brilliantly organised race with super friendly marshals. Attracts a good field of club runners. PBs are possible on a fast course.

Easy to enter, well organised. Malcolm French is always very helpful with sorting out any issues there are with entries.

I know the 35 minute time limit would put most beginners off so I wouldn’t really call it beginner friendly. However, the fact that it is entirely run on tarmac would help beginners.

Serpentine continue to run this event with the most committed of volunteers and marshalls. Despite the attendance of a lot of club runners, it is a inclusive event that caters for the very fast to anyone looking to complete at around <30 mins. No chip time but not needed given the size of the field-takes not more than 2-3 secs if starting near the back. Given I just ran another event for £35+ for a 5km in London-the only difference being a bottle of water, few snacks, and a medal. Times posted live same evening.
